PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch,located in Gallup, NM, approximately 130 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.
The University of New Mexico Gallup Branch campus, Facilities ManagementDepartment is seeking applications for an experienced Turf Tech/Grounds Keeper.   
The Turf Tech performs routine grounds maintenance thatmay include irrigating, raking, mowing, weeding, planting, trimming, applyingfertilizers, preparing areas for new turf and trash/litter removal.  Operates UNM-owned vehicles to perform dutiesinclusive of offsite Campus.  Operatesgrounds equipment/machines and ensure proper care in the use and maintenance ofequipment and supplies.  Snow removal asrequired, may perform general maintenance and custodial tasks. May work otherschedules, on-call, overtime, and weekends as required. 

This position involves extensive physical activity;requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objectsover 50 pounds, which require following basic safety precautions.  Majority of the work is performed outside andin all types of weather.  Work involvesconsiderable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt,dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Conditions of Employment

• Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
• All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
• Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in grounds maintenance and turf equipment operationsand with small hand-tools.
Experience in working with fertilizer and/orpesticides.
Demonstrated ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
Experience in working outdoors.
Demonstrated ability to understand and followspecific instructions and procedures.
