Job Description:
Responsible for appropriate accessioning and labeling of surgical specimens, perform surgical gross examinations of small uncomplicated specimens, prepare gross tissue for frozen section. Provide additional support to Pathologists and/or Pathologists' Assistants as needed.
Travel may be required to support sites with frozen section needs.

Education Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities:
- Must maintain specimen integrity and identification according to established laboratory policies and procedures
- Assists with answering phone calls and communication of suboptimal specimen inquires, maintain daily gross room inventory and stock supplies/benches
- Responsible for instrument troubleshooting and maintenance related to grossing equipment
- Job duties may also consist of embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining procedures, IHC and ISH, and Mohs for the treatment and management of pathologic conditions on patients of all ages
Educational Requirements:
Individuals must be qualified as high complexity testing personnel under the CLIA regulations. The minimum training/experience required of such personnel is:
- An associate or bachelor degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution
OR
- Other route that qualifies for high complexity testing personnel under the CLIA regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years pathology experience
