Purpose of the Position:
Under the supervision of the greenhouse manager, the Greenhouse/Plant Technician is responsible for maintaining greenhouse plant materials, including watering, fertilizing, and pest management; maintaining the greenhouse facility by keeping it clean and organized; and preparing plants for rentals, replacements, and installation.
Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:
· Unloading of plant trucks/checking in inventory.
· Utilize fertilized watering systems to water plants on a regular basis to keep them healthy.
· Monitor plants for pests/diseases and have them treated, immediately, to prevent further damage, as well as notify the greenhouse manager of any indication of pests/diseases.
· Maintain plants by pulling weeds from containers and removing any damaged or unsightly foliage to reduce decaying material that can attract pests and cause diseases to grow.
· Maintain the organization of the greenhouse by keeping plants of the same type grouped together.
· Maintain the interior and exterior of the greenhouse facility by keeping it clear of debris and by putting away containers, supplies and tools.
· Tagging/tying plants for designated purposes.
· Gather and prepare plants that are designated for rental, installation, and replacement.

Required Education and Experience:
- Horticulture Degree required.
- Knowledge of plant care requirements or related experience (preferred).
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a greenhouse facility and outdoors. The individual performing this job must be able to perform his/her job duties in varying climates.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This job requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. The individual performing this job must also be able to climb ladders; have good dexterous use of both hands; use scissors, pruners, hand saws, hoses and other small tools; and apply leaf cleaners and insecticides using hand-help pump sprayers.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday-Friday 7:00AM to 4:00PM, with some nights and weekends. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must work a minimum of 36 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
