Greenhouse Grower

family-friendlyJ.W. Jung Seed Company is a mail-order and retail company that ships quality seeds, plants and gardening accessories to all 50 states. We have six garden centers in Wisconsin with our corporate headquarters stationed in Randolph, WI. We are currently seeking a Production Greenhouse Worker to work at our Stoughton location.

This individual will grow annuals (hanging baskets, potted plants, and vegetable production) in February through April as well as helping with nursery, perennial plants and houseplants as needed throughout the busy garden center season.

As a Production Greenhouse Supervisor you will:

• Plant seeds and transplant plugs in pots and trays to sell them in retail stores
• Perform daily maintenance on plants, such as watering, weeding, and pruning
• Keep work areas clean
• Ability to work in a team or independently
• Use machinery to facilitate soil operations
• Prepare soil for planting
• Perform general labor that is strenuous and sometimes in extreme heat
• Perform other duties as assigned

How do you know you would be a great addition to our Greenhouse team? If you:

• Enjoy working with plants and can provide horticultural/botanical knowledge
• Should possess some familiarity with plants and have a basic understanding of plant care, harvesting, soil, and water quality
• Have a strong attention to detail
• Must be able to count and keep track of plant inventories
• Possess positive communication skills
• Ability to work with a team; be an effective verbal communicator and able to coordinate activities during a shift
• Can work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
• Must be able to stand, squat, sit, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work on weekends to water when scheduled
• Are willing to work wherever needed in the store outside of production times

Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
