Kern Energy is hiring a Greenhouse Gas Technician who will be responsible for monitoring, measuring, and managing greenHouse Gas emissions within the refinery. This position requires expertise in emission reduction strategies, compliance monitoring, and data analysis and will contribute to our commitment to environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance. Job Function
- Conduct regular monitoring and measurement of greenHouse Gas emissions within the refinery, including carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and other relevant gases.
- Utilize appropriate instrumentation and analytical techniques to collect accurate data on emissions from various sources, such as combustion processes, flares, and fugitive emissions.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive greenHouse Gas monitoring system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports on greenHouse Gas emissions to regulatory bodies, internal stakeholders, and external agencies as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement emission reduction strategies and initiatives within the refinery.
- Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate the effectiveness of various emission control technologies and practices.
- Develop and implement programs to optimize energy efficiency, reduce carbon footprint, and minimize greenHouse Gas emissions throughout the refinery operations.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends related to greenHouse Gas management, and recommend innovative solutions to reduce emissions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements related to greenHouse Gas emissions.
- Stay informed about local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to greenHouse Gas management and ensure refinery operations align with these requirements.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with emissions standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders during audits, inspections, and reporting processes.
- Collect, organize, and analyze data related to greenHouse Gas emissions using appropriate software tools and statistical methods.
- Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in emission data, and provide actionable insights to improve emission control and reduction strategies.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive reports summarizing emission data, trends, and compliance status for internal and external stakeholders.
- Present findings and recommendations to management, regulatory agencies, and other relevant parties.
- Collaborate with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to support and contribute to environmental sustainability initiatives and programs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of environmental management systems (EMS) to promote continuous improvement in greenHouse Gas management.
- Assist in the identification and evaluation of new technologies, processes, and practices that enhance sustainability and reduce greenHouse Gas emissions.
- Document information in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for electrical, instrumentation, and process control systems and equipment.
Knowledge Skills
- Solid understanding of greenHouse Gas emissions sources, measurement techniques, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and reporting frameworks, such as EPA GHGRP, CDP, or ISO 14064.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting using software tools and statistical methods.
- Knowledge of emission reduction strategies, technologies, and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.
- Understanding environmental management systems (EMS) and sustainability principles is a plus.
Education/ Experience
- High school diploma
- Instrumentation and electrical experience
- Two (2) years’ experience in a running manufacturing facility, refining or petrochemicals preferred
