Graphics / 3D Animator Intern - Summer 2024 (May-August)

Create 3D animations and graphics using tools such as 3D Studio Max depicting a wide variety of complex events like vehicle collisions, train derailments, aviation accidents, and fires and explosions. Coordination with a team of other technologists and consultants at ESi will be necessary for success.

The mandatory research project must be completed by the end of the Internship and is expected to require approximately 40 hours of effort (housing not included). The research topic shall be mutually agreed upon between the intern and supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Acquire additional skills with 3D CAD software to create models for animation, simulation, and virtual reality software.
• Actively work to become proficient with 3D Studio Max, Reality Capture, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and other software to assist in the creation 3D animations and graphics.
• Learn FARO Scene laser scan post-processing software as needed to facilitate the use of FARO Focus laser scan data in animation.
• Learn to assist in the development of Virtual Reality presentations through testing, equipment setup, model creation, animation and software development as needed.
• Accept responsibility for completing project tasks in time for project and client deadlines.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with Visualization consultants and the lead visualization technologist.
• Must follow proper safety procedures including the required P.P.E. while working with or being exposed to hazards from equipment, chemicals, or toxic materials.

Required Work Hours:

• Internships with ESi are expected to be full-time, 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday (Business hours are from 8 am-5 pm).
• If you are participating in our co-op program – we require that you are taking no more than 2 classes during your employment with ESi and are able to work a minimum of 32 hours per week.

Required Skills:

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Verbal and Written Communication.
• Intermediate skills with CAD and office productivity software.

Preferred Skills:

• 3D CAD, 3D Animation, as well as an overall interest in animation and animation techniques.

Experience Required:

• Six months of working experience required.

Experience Preferred:

• Work-related experience with 3D CAD, 3D animation, laser scan post-processing, image editing, video editing, or Virtual Reality software is a plus.

Education Required:

• Must have completed at least Freshman year.
• Major in Graphic Design, Engineering, 3D Animation or other related field.
• 3.00 GPA or higher.

Position Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to travel for trips of three days in length.
