Job Summary:
As a Graphic Design Specialist at TechnoServe, you'll be a key part of our outstanding Communications team, responsible for creating impactful designs and multimedia content to elevate outreach goals across the organization.
Your tasks include handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and making great designs and materials for digital and print. In addition to your technical proficiency in design software and tools, your strong communication skills, proactive problem-solving, commitment to teamwork, and ongoing learning are essential. This role reports to the Creative Services Manager and will be expected to collaborate with internal teams and external contractors. It has no direct reports.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with employees to create design solutions to support project goals. Be able to explain the rationale behind design choices.
• Efficiently manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Develop visually engaging designs and a variety of materials (e.g., publications, presentations, charts, graphics, posters, banners, templates, icons, infographics, and videos) while following project requirements.
• Design for both digital and print mediums following visual brand guidelines to ensure design consistency across materials.
• Ensure high-quality, error-free designs making amendments based on feedback, and regularly communicating with internal customers.
• Identify problems and provide proactive suggestions / solutions.
• Keep organized records of design assets and project files.
• Stay updated with current design trends and incorporate them into your work when appropriate.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree + 3 years relevant experience OR Master's Degree + 1-year relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.
• Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Workspace.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English to collaborate with team members, engage in the problem-solving process, and effectively convey design ideas.
• High degree of professionalism, patience, adaptability, transparency, and responsiveness.
• Portfolio of work with a range of creative projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience
  
  • creating templates in Google Workspace, Microsoft and Canva.
  • training others on how to use templates or other design tools.
  • creating/editing video and audio content and motion graphics.
  • creating illustrations.
  • with non-profits or international development organizations.
• Language skills in Spanish, Portuguese, or French are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Mastery of design fundamentals, including layout, composition (alignment, repetition, balance, contrast) and visual hierarchy.
• Understanding of production and distribution processes such as dimensions, color profiles, resolution, and file size and type, for both digital and print media.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote work team, responding and following through as expected.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism and incorporate feedback to improve your work.
• Awareness of copyright laws and licensing agreements, ensuring designs are legally compliant.
• Attentive to ethical, cultural, and inclusive aspects in design.
• Curious and committed to ongoing learning and skill development in the ever-evolving field of Graphic Design.
• Exhibit strong commitment and passion for the mission of TechnoServe.

The posted salary for this position is the midpoint. If selected for this position, your salary may be more or less than the posted amount and will be commensurate with your qualifications and organizational equity.
