 TITLE: Grants Project Coordinator  DEPARTMENT:  College of Agriculture, Community & the Sciences    REPORTS TO: Principal InvestigatorEFFECTIVE DATE: TBDEMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Full-time                                           EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION:   Exempt                   PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:  The Grants Projects Coordinator would support the Grants Project team in implementing multiple geospatial, environmental, NextGen, and STEM research and education projects funded by NSF, USDA, DOE, etc.  SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Grants Project Coordinator in the College of Agriculture, Community, and the Sciences would serve as a support person for coordinating multiple research and education projects to promote environmental, agricultural, STEM, and international education and experiential research projects at Kentucky State University. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) of the multiple research and education grants, the person will coordinate research and programming duties in compiling and analyzing students' information and progress reports, grants budgets and expense reports, coordinate overseas travels, and join the project team to visit multiple countries with students, and preparing/editing presentations, publications, and annual progress reports.  ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Coordinate in the implementation of USDA, DOE, and NSF-funded undergraduate experiential research activities, including short-term study abroad projectsCompile, create, and update socioeconomic, environmental, agricultural, and geospatial data of the project sites, including Caribbean countries.Maintain undergraduate research assistants’ database and information for a project website.Organize the Summer Apprenticeship Program (SAP) each summer sessionVisit high schools and recruit students for a Summer Apprentice Program (SAP) and for other campus events.Compile and update grants records, project promotion brochures, flyers, curriculum, and recruitment materials.Prepare progress reports and student research presentations.Assisting the project team and participating faculty in developing, mentoring, and conducting student experiential research projects.Assist the project leadership team in organizing Annual STEM-DAY, GIS-Day, AFE DAY, and other student professional development activities at KSU.Performing other related duties as required by the supervisor or the project team.   OTHER DUTIES:  The person also assists in record keeping, budget establishment, preparing requisitions, contracts, purchase orders, coordinating travels and participation in overseas travel with students, and administrative duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Agriculture, STEM Education, or other related area.   Licensing and Certifications             None. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:     At least one year’s experience in project management, reports presentation, database management, accounting, and coordinating travel.Experience of working with undergraduate minority students and mentoring their research projects.Practical experience in report writing, database management, preparing presentations, and basic statistics in Excel, R suites, SPSS, etc.Effective oral, writing, and graphic design skills.Ability to work cooperatively in a team, meet deadlines, and persevere through unforeseeable pressureInitiative, creativity, punctuality, flexibility, positive learning attitude, and ability to work independently are essential. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  This position may require mentoring undergraduate and high school students, and technicians,  and overseeing their research work and timecards. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Field visits to Appalachian Counties and periodic domestic and international travels are required. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a U.S. passport.Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.  Internal candidates are encouraged to apply.
