About UFW Foundation: For 17 years, the UFW Foundation has mobilized farm workers and their organizations across the country to advocate for more equitable policies, such as immigration reform, pesticide protections, heat standards, hazard pay and other worker protections. We engage constituents in systemic change to break the cycle of poverty while also providing critical services. In fact, the UFW Foundation is the largest federally accredited immigration legal service provider in the state of California. The organization has staff in California, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Maryland.

SUMMARY: The UFW Foundation is seeking a full-time Grant Writer. The Grant Writer will (1) create and coordinate grants to support the organization’s annual operations and program development; and (2) seek to increase external support for the organization and its programs to strengthen the quality of services and to expand programs. This position reports to Senior Grants and Program Evaluation Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not exhaustive):

• Develop, create, write, prepare, and complete compelling letters and grant proposals for individual donors and foundations.

• Gain and maintain an understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and the organization.

• Gain and maintain familiarity with past and current funded proposals and with all organization funding opportunities.

• Lead prospect and other research as needed.

• Prepare detailed interim and final reports for funders.

• Research and identify new funding opportunities from private foundations, corporations, and state and federal agencies.

• Work collaboratively with the Development team and other organizational departments on the development of proposals and reports.

• Work with other potential funding opportunities to design and execute collaborative grant initiatives.

• Work with program staff and executive team to collect the most accurate and up-to-date information on organization’s programs and program needs and conduct timely and accurate reporting for each grant.

• Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISING RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May supervise volunteers.
