Position Description

TITLE:Grant Writer Assistant

HOURS: 40 hours per week

REPORTS TO: Grants Manager

SUPERVISES: Assigned Volunteers

WORK LOCATION: In Person in Red Lodge, MT

WAGE: $16.00-$18.00, DOE

BENEFITS: Health and Retirement Stipends. 56 hours Holiday pay, 80 hours PTO, 62 Hours of Professional Development.

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

To perform the job successfully, the Grant Writer Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Learning, refining and developing all of the skills needed for Foundation grant activities.
  • Participate in concept meetings with members of the grant cohort for each grant, including key program staff.
  • Work with program managers to gather the information necessary for an informed grant application.
  • Implement follow-up systems and processes.
  • Coordinate and follow-up on the progress of submitted proposals.
  • Supports and implements the grant portion of the annual fundraising plans and strategy.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify, cultivate and solicit new grants.
  • Research funding opportunities that align with the Foundation’s mission.
  • Provide support and receive mentorship as pertains to the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to federal, state, local and private foundation funding sources.
  • Support the Grant Manager in maintaining a calendar of submissions and other deadlines to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
  • Support the Grant Manager in ensuring agency compliance with all grant requirements.
  • Assist in the management of supplemental material required for proposals.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with related policies.
  • Assist with other duties related to Grants as assigned.

  • Physical, mental and emotional health adequate to perform duties.
  • General sedentary work, but requires standing and walking in order to photocopy, file, and run errands within the community. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain professional confidentiality.
  • Must be able to interact with people in a pleasant, collaborative, empathetic and professional manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
