Job description

SUMMARY: EmBe is seeking a part time Grant Writer. This individual must have strong writing and communication skills, research abilities, and a passion for EmBe’s mission and programs. This person will play a crucial role in securing the financial resources needed for EmBe to fulfill its objectives and make a positive impact on the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
  • Research and apply for grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
  • Write compelling grant proposals and letters of inquiry that clearly articulate the organization's mission, objectives, and the specific project for which funding is sought.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to manage the implementation of funded projects and programs.
  • Work closely with finance and program staff to develop accurate and detailed project budgets for inclusion in grant proposals.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with grant-making organizations, program officers, and other stakeholders.
  • Track and document the outcomes and impact of funded initiatives for future reporting and grant applications.
  • Stay updated on best practices in grant writing and fundraising.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize information from various sources.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of grant application processes, grant writing techniques, and fundraising best practices.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity.
  • Ability to understand the needs of both the agency in need of funding and the organization that is offering the grant money.
  • Being able to understand and execute complex instructions.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or similar.
  • Two years of experience in related field.
  • Proven experience in grant writing for nonprofits, including successful grant awards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with grant management software is a plus.
  • Passion for the mission and goals of EmBe.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Work is performed in an indoor office environment
  • Noise level is quiet

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • No nights
  • No weekends

Supplemental pay types:

  • Signing bonus
