Position Summary
The Centerfor Dissemination and Implementation Science (CDIS) within the Department ofMedicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a graduateresearch assistant (hourly) to support an NIH-funded study addressing health disparities and sexual and reproductive health practicesamong Latina teens (14-18 years old). In partnership with community-basedorganizations throughout the Chicagoland area and drawing on an implementationscience approach, we will deliver the Floreciendo sexual andreproductive health program to Latina teens and their female caregivers(mothers, aunts, sisters, etc.) as part of a pilot randomized optimizationtrial. Workshops take place on the weekends at community partners in the Chicagolandarea. A community advisory board is guiding all aspects of the research, whichuses community-based participatory research principles. The study is funded bythe National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. We seek aGraduate Hourly to support with the delivery of workshops.
Approximately 10 hours per week.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consenting study participants in English and Spanish
  • Administering questionnaires to study participants in English and Spanish
  • Administering feedback forms to study participants in English and Spanish
  • Conducting STI testing among teen participants (training will be provided)
  • Observing workshops
  • Assisting with workshop logistics as needed
  • Contributing to data entry, management, and analysis
  • Contributing to the activities of our community advisory board
  • Performing administrative tasks, such as contributing to IRB submissions and taking meeting notes

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
    • Currently enrolled in a master's or doctoral program in public health, social work, psychiatry, or other related social science field.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency with MS Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • *Must be available to travel to community partner organizations throughout the Chicagoland area to support workshop delivery on weekends (primarily Saturdays).

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Research experience with Latino teens and/or families.
    • Experience with Redcap and/or MAXQDA
