Job Description
The Student WellnessGraduate Assistant will assist the Office of Student Wellness (OSW) staff, including Director and Outreach Nurse Educator, with programming and education across campus around topics such as: sleep, nutrition, stress resiliency, mental health wellness, healthy relationships, and substance use harm reduction. This position offers experience in program development, delivery, and assessment; assisting in supervising and training of Student peer health educators and undergraduate student worker; conducting campus wide health education communication campaigns; and other tasks based on the needs of the Office of Student Wellness and the interests and skills of the Wellness Education Graduate Assistant. In addition to OSW staff, the position has the opportunity to work with many offices across campus, community partners, and students.
Training in college wellness best practices provided on an as needed basis. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours are required to accommodate programming needs (when not conflicting with academic commitments) and will be counted toward regular weekly hours.
Primary Responsibilities
- Research best practices around health promotion topics from a public health framework
- Assist in creating and maintaining Office of Student Wellness website, monthly newsletters, and social media content creation; campaigns focused on public health initiatives, programming, and education
- Assist in promoting culturally-inclusive and diverse representations of wellness for campus community
- Assist in preparing events and programs across campus; including, but not limited to: workshops, Wellness Wednesday tabling, wellness fairs, therapy dog visits, Marathon Monday, and more
- Collaborate with on-campus and community partners in health education promotion to streamline and strengthen wellness efforts across campus (including Residential Life, Office of Student Involvement, Office of Spiritual and Religious Life, Office of Intercultural Education, Recreation and Athletics, and more)
- Assist in campus administration of National College Health Assessment with OSW and Office of Institutional Research
- Assist in the planning of annual peer health education training retreat, co-facilitate training modules, and analyze post-training assessment data
Education:
- Must be currently enrolled in a Master's or Doctorate degree in related field such as public health, rehabilitation counseling, higher education, social work, counseling, psychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in health, wellness, and public health
- Must be proficient in Canva, Instagram, Google Suite
- Ability to work independently, self-directed
- Willingness to learn about the Wellesley College culture and its diverse student body
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong presentation and/or group facilitation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills (i.e. tabling settings, assisting with workshops, student outreach)
Additional Job Details:
- 9 month position for 10 hours/week (pending Graduate Program structure, September-May)
- Not eligible for benefits
- Transportation: Commuter Rail; Access to MIT Exchange Bus; on-campus parking available
