This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to [Cole Engineering Center Warren, Michigan ] three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]

The Global Purchasing & Supply Chain (GPSC) Risk & Resiliency Specialist will apply Supply Chain Risk Management principles, working with and educating various internal and external stakeholders to GM on emerging supply chain risks, risk metrics and initiatives.

Key focus areas include Supply Chain Risk metrics, management, and evolution. Lead risk metrics identification, prioritization, and mitigation strategies across all SMT’s. Responsible for training, data management, and SMT support. Visibility with Tier 1 to Tier “n” sub-tier suppliers risk exposure is key for risk identification with various teams. This position will allow the candidate to interface across all regions and countries, as well as cross-functionally within areas such as Supply Chain Command Centers, Logistics, Direct Purchasing, Legal, Tax Staff, and Finance.  
This position requires initiative, independent judgment, and command, ability to teach, coach, and help customers find continuous improvement opportunities. Identifying opportunities, evaluating options, and tactful implementation of solutions are key attributes to success in this role.  

Responsibilities include ( but are not limited to ):

  • Lead risk identification, prioritization, and mitigation strategies across all SMT’s. 

  • Location Risk & Dependency Risk SME responsible for training, data management, mitigation plans and SMT support.

  • Explore new and innovative supply chain risk metrics and management solutions for potential implementation.

  • Engage with suppliers to understand their risk metrics & management strategy, approach to Supply Chain visibility, and Business Continuity Planning.

  • Develop processes and training for our GPSC organization and Supply Base to further integrate cross-functionally in end-to-end supply chain initiatives.

  • Create and execute presentations to spread awareness of GPSC Risk Metrics and Management initiatives.

  • Analyze data to determine risk areas within the GM supply chain that will provide real-world solutions and help alleviate future risk for GM.

  • Work with IT to develop a standardized visibility data collection on Suppliers and their Tiers.

  • Support Potential Impact Reporting creation and Ad Hoc Reporting.

  • Willing to take on additional responsibilities, attend training, seek out mentoring and learn new skills.

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate

Additional Description

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 5 years Supply Chain or Purchasing experience preferred

  • Work experience in related areas such as Supply Chain, Direct Material, Purchasing, or Risk Management

  • Be skilled in developing materials to convey both concepts and information to targeted audiences.

  • Have the ability to listen to the voice of the customer, teach, and coach others.

  • Basic understanding of IT processes and terminology

  • Highly developed oral and written communications skills

  • High level of interpersonal and organizational skills to work effectively with other

  • Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain resiliency concepts and strategies

  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Experience in creating and delivering formal presentations and/or training

  • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and to work with a high degree of autonomy

  • Drive for results with an ability to lead and effect change in the face of challenges

  • Strong analytical, strategic planning and leadership abilities

  • High level of data analytic capability

  • Desire to challenge status quo and bring improvements to existing processes

  • 20% travel Domestically to Suppliers

  • Creativity, innovation and open minded to new insights

  • Highly motivated self-starter

  • Demonstrated ability to network and collaborate cross-functionally and globally

  • Strong knowledge of computer software (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, TEAMS, and Sharepoint) Required

  • Experience with Power BI, Access, or Tableau preferred
