SalaryThe Section Lead worker works under the Horticulture Manager and Supervisors to accomplish all tasks associated with the maintenance and overseeing of the assigned landscape section to the standards of an upscale resort. The Section Lead worker must show the willingness to follow and observe policies and procedures outlined in the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Handbook and Horticulture Training Manual.
Oversee and manage the assigned landscape area surrounding the buildings and inside the courtyards.
Lead and work with the assigned Gardener in the assigned section of landscape. Daily tasks include: pruning, picking up trash, raking, weedeating, mowing, blow/sweep walking paths and common areas, and hedging.
Assist Horticulture Manager and Supervisors in administering a regular program of fertilizing to the assigned section.
Assist Horticulture Manager and Supervisors with special projects: Installation of new and existing areas of landscapes, holiday installations and lawn aerification when necessary.
Responsible for special guests events within the assigned section. This includes group events and weddings and any special project to assist the guest requests.
Cleaning & maintaining equipment and machinery: Thoroughly clean, stock, and store any equipment or machinery used for various tasks that may be performed.
Work as a team member to improve the property landscapes, work environment, and create a safe work environment.
Essential:
Entry level position (trainable).
Valid California Driver's license.
Approachable demeanor: Friendly, team attitude, ability to follow directions and supervision.
Ability to work early mornings and occasionally weekends/holidays.
Ability to uphold the standard levels outlined in the departments Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Handbook, and the Horticulture Operations Manual.
Good understanding of the English language.
Ability to communicate in Spanish.
Desirable:
Previous landscaping experience.
Ability to communicate in English.
Previous heavy machinery operation.
Ability to read/write in English
The pay for this position is $20/hour.
