Division:  Grounds & Golf (GRG007)

MKR Golf Maintenance Grounds Equipment Operator

Primary Responsibilities: Cut grass as required. Edge curbs, sidewalks, cart paths; sweeps streets walkways, parking lots with power sweepers. Operate lawn roller in making new lawns, using aerator and sod cutting machines required. Drive truck over 1 ton and operate other power equipment as directed. Clean and maintain equipment; report any problems to mechanic. Keep equipment properly serviced and lubricated; make minor repairs and adjustments. May assist in other grounds or golf course maintenance work as directed.

Essential Duties:

  1. Inspect equipment or vehicle and report any unsafe conditions or improper working parts.
  2. Mow grass on fairways, greens, rough as assigned and directed.
  3. Edge curbs, sidewalks, cart paths.
  4. Sweep streets, walkways, around golf facilities and parking lots with power sweeper.
  5. Operate vehicle over 1 ton.
  6. Keep equipment properly serviced, cleaned, lubricated and maintained.
  7. Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  8. Perform duties following safety procedures and policies.
  9. Assist in special projects.
  10. Responsible for the proper use, maintenance and care of tools and equipment.
  11. Make minor repair and adjustment on equipment.
  12. Perform duties of grounds section tender when needed.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:

  1. May assist other positions in the department.

Working Conditions:

  1. Work outdoors in various weather conditions; may be dusty.

Work Hours:

  1. Must be able to work shift and days determined by the manager.
  2. Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week, when needed.

Equipment Use:

  1. Utility vehicle to travel to work area.
  2. May operate one or more of the following equipment: rough mower, fairway mower, triplex mower or sprayer during most of shift.
  3. Various power equipment such as air cushion mower, weedeater, edger, blower and power saw.
  4. Various landscape maintenance hand tools such as shears, pick, weedeater, lopper, hand saw, rake, water hose and hedge trimmer.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  1. Ability to climb in/out of equipment, sitting and drive equipment while operating gears and foot pedals during most of shift.
  2. Ability to use hand and power tools when doing section tender work or special projects.
  3. Must be able to stand, walk and bend to inspect and clean equipment and adjust mower.
  4. Able to lift, carry, push or pull up to and over 50 lbs of tools, equipment or other supplies.

Communication Demands:

  1. Must have the ability to communicate verbally to employees and manager.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  1. Driver's License when operating vehicles
  2. Must be able to safely operate equipment using hands and feet.
  3. Read and write to perform job duties.
