This position reports directly to the Director of Agronomy. Golf Course Superintendents are entrusted with the maintenance, operations, and management of a Golf Course. Superintendents carefully manage the maintenance inputs to the Golf Course while conserving and protecting natural resources. They directly influence the playing areas and landscapes with which golfers interact. The Golf Course Superintendent coordinates operations with the club manager, golf professional, and ownership.
Schedule: Monday - Sunday (Rotating every other weekend off)
The Golf Course Superintendent assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining Golf Course properties, which includes:
- The Golf Course
- Maintenance equipment
- Clubhouse grounds and landscaping
- Open spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fence
Core Responsibilities:
- Leads the construction and maintenance of the Golf Course, as well as maintenance and repair of construction and Golf Course maintenance equipment.
- Rendering professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the ownership.
- Participating in all long-range planning meetings. Prepares the annual budgets for the maintenance and capital improvement of course properties.
- Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the properties. The superintendent has authority to terminate employment of subordinates.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years in leadership role in commercial and/or Golf course maintenance industry
- Minimum 3 years working with commercial irrigation systems
- Proficient in irrigation software, Microsoft apps, and basic computer skills
- Ability to acquire NM state Pesticide license within 90 days of date of hire
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Must exhibit energy and enthusiasm for the job.
- Must be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop and kneel continuously while performing essential job functions.
- Ability to work in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures.
- Must have flexible availability and be able to work weekends and holidays.
