POSITION PURPOSE
The Golf Course Groundskeeper’s responsibility is to help maintain the greens, collars, tees, approaches, fairways, rough, and bunkers on the course through mowing, trimming, watering, weeding, and small projects. Carries out all general labor duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mowing of greens, collars, approaches, tees, fairways, roughs.
- Maintenance of bunkers, which includes raking, weeding, and mowing.
- Maintenance of greens and tees, including verti-cutting, top-dressing, mowing, hand watering, and fertilizing.
- Use and take care of provided equipment.
- Assist in moisture management in turfgrass areas.
- Carry out general labor duties as required.
- Assist in turf renovations.
- Assist in fertilization.
- Maintain and clean the maintenance facility to insure a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to install, operate, troubleshoot and repair manual and/or computerized irrigation systems.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Strong customer relations skills.
- A positive attitude.
- Willing to work in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to learn and understand basic objectives in playing golf.
- Ability to learn and use light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
SUPERVISION
The position is supervised. However, the property is large and staff need to be able to work without constant supervision.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a High school diploma (or equivalent). Experience in Golf Course maintenance or related fields will be taken into consideration.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Valid driver’s license or equivalent
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work involves exposure to outdoor weather elements, such as heat, cold, wind, sun, rain, etc. temperatures. Also involves exposure to noise from machinery, dirt, dust, and golfers hitting golf balls.
- Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENT
Uniform shirts will be provided.
Employees are responsible for maintaining a clean/crisp-looking uniform.
