SUMMARY

Reporting to the President, the GM of Operations will drive operational excellence in WGPW’s Industrial Gas Turbine business. Focus on the responsive and efficient delivery for our customers, maintaining safety, quality, cost competitive servicing and repair of WGPW’s targeted fleet of industrial turbines. This includes the execution of $65M+ in annual revenue and an EBIT of $21M+

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complies with all WGPW EHS standards and procedures as outlined in the EHS program and employee handbook.
  • Implement business strategies and plans that align with the short- and long-term objectives of WGPW.
  • Drive Quality throughout the organization focused on improving the customer experience and minimizing defects.
  • Lead the Lean Transformation, including the deployment of the Kaizen Production Office.
  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Manage capital investments and expenses to deliver on growth strategies and meet overhead targets.
  • Manage all rooftop facilities, ensuring compliance with all regulations and maintaining integrity of all systems and equipment.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in Operations management and leverage technology advancements where appropriate.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing Operations team. This includes hiring and developing talent, providing guidance and support, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, facilities, project management, engineering, finance, and supply chain, to ensure alignment of activities with overall business strategies.
  • Sustainability and Social Responsibility: Integrating sustainable practices and ethical considerations into the supply chain. This includes implementing environmentally friendly initiatives, promoting fair labor practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience in Operations management and related roles is crucial. Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in operations, quality, continuous improvement, or business development. This experience should include positions of increasing responsibility and leadership.
  • Operations Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Operations management principles, practices, and technologies is essential. Candidates should have a strong understanding of environmental, healthy and safety, quality, Lean, production and scheduling and all disciplines required to lead a world class operation.
  • Strategic Thinking: Should demonstrate a track record of aligning operations teams with strategies with overall business objectives, driving cost efficiencies, and optimizing operational performance.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills are necessary to oversee and motivate a team of operational professionals. Candidates should have experience in building and managing high-performing teams, providing guidance and mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Candidates should possess excellent analytical skills to identify trends, analyze data, and make informed decisions. They should be adept at problem-solving, capable of resolving complex operational challenges, and implementing process improvements.
  • Communication and Relationship Management: Effective communication and interpersonal skills are critical for collaborating with stakeholders, negotiating with suppliers, and building strong relationships across departments. Candidates should be able to communicate complex operational concepts clearly and influence others to achieve objectives.
  • Industry Knowledge: extensive power generation and propulsion services/repairs knowledge, 10-20 years. Understanding industry trends, regulations, and best practices can help shape effective operational strategies and mitigate risks.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in operational software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, data analytics tools, and other relevant technologies is increasingly important. Knowledge of emerging technologies which can be an added advantage.
  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to ongoing learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in operational management is valuable. Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, Quality are key to success in this role.

EDUCATION

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations or Supply Chain Management or related scientific field is required. Prefer candidates with a master's degree or MBA.

Travel

Travel will be required as needed to meet business objectives.
