Position Details:

The Global Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for U.S. export compliance (screening of government denied party lists and export license determination), obtaining and processing international trade data from suppliers, and all interactions to support customs clearance activities for Grainger Canada.  You will provide guidance, resolves issues, independently manages projects and ensures the smooth flow of Grainger product throughout the U.S. and Canada. You will work closely with Grainger business units to ensure compliance with US export regulations, corporate export policies as well as any country specific requirements.

 

You Will:

  • Ensures export transactions are compliant with U.S. Government regulations by continually evaluating processes and system updates as they relate to International Trade. 
  • Screens export orders against U.S. Government denied party listings and export license determination through the export compliance system, SAP-Global Trade Services (SAP-GTS).
  • Independently makes decisions and exercises discretion on clearing customers through denied party listings and determines amount of risk that Grainger will assume on each export order based on background review of customer details with oversight and direction from the Manager of Export Logistics and Compliance.
  • Review and assist export customers with application for U.S. export licenses.
  • Audit all classification, documentation, and billings for goods moving into Canada.
  • Serve as a central point of contact and center of expertise for Canadian customs matters.
  • Work closely with the Global Governance team to ensure compliance with all applicable Canadian customs laws.
  • Monitor the performance, resolve operational issues, and correct deficiencies of customs brokers, suppliers and processes associated with the importation into Canada.
  • Assist with Duty Drawbacks and USMCA/CUSMA solicitation


You Will:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in Trade Compliance, global operation, or international supply chain logistics in a large organization.
  • Canadian Customs Certification or US Customs broker certification is preferred, or ability to acquire one within the year
  • Experience with SAP and excel
  • Domestic and international travel up to 25% to Grainger Distribution Centers and offices
