What you will do:

Defines, designs, implements, and drives process improvements via Johnson Controls’ Continuous Improvement framework within the Fire, Security, and HVAC Business Units in North America, with a prioritized focus on Central Operations.  Ensures adoption, integration, and ongoing maintenance of the Johnson Controls Operating Rhythm process within multiple Central Operations teams, driving cultural transformation, implementing effective daily management systems, facilitating high-performing teams, coaching leadership, and managing/maintaining program plans. As an Operational Development Professional, you will be responsible for creating and executing strategies that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, while fostering a High-Performance Culture.  Mentors and coaches for improvement in teams that have adopted the Operating Rhythm process.  Drives improvement projects aligned with business strategies and priorities through the Johnson Controls Ideation process.  Establishes and maintains performance metrics to measure project or team success. Ensures programs are well executed utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizan, TPS and/or change management methodologies. You will have the autonomy to employ your skills to let the data “guide you” to identify improvement opportunities for our clients and internal business partners. Improvement is celebrated and you are encouraged to have the foresight to search for opportunities and the confidence to share them with the team. You’ll gain the experience of being part of a dynamic and collaborative team; helping employees and clients learn, grow, and to be successful in Operating Rhythm execution.

How you will do it:  

Directs multiple teams in institutionalizing customer focus and Continuous Improvement mindsets through implementation of Operating Rhythm and Ideation processes. 

Leads and supports large, complex, and cross-functional projects and initiatives resulting from Ideation or Organizational Health/YourVoice findings.  Owns strategic planning and tactical execution of projects, in accordance with Customer Experience/Operational Excellence program directives.  Contributes to the identification of projects that meet strategic objectives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cultural improvement.

Deliver training programs to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.

Partner with leadership and team members to design, implement, and maintain effective daily management systems to improve operational efficiency.

Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and track progress.

Provide guidance and support to teams in implementing and utilizing daily management tools and processes.

Continuously evaluate and enhance daily management systems based on feedback and performance data.

Facilitate team meetings, workshops, and training sessions to foster collaboration and enhance team performance.

Guide teams in problem-solving, decision making, and conflict resolution.

Continuously displays the characteristics of a change leader in the organization.

Tracks and communicates performance metrics to ensure that organization objectives in the areas of cost, efficiency, quality, and customer focus are met.

Promote effective communication and information sharing within and across teams.

Consistently communicates with management to review and examine project progress.  Provides high-quality, publish-ready communications, artefacts and presentations to update and promote programs and/or projects and to simplify highly, complex problems into an easy-to-understand “story.”

Provide coaching and guidance to leaders at all levels to enhance their leadership skills.

Conduct leadership assessments and provide feedback to support leadership development.

What we look for:

 Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline from an accredited university
  • Five+ (5+) years Black Belt experience with at least three years of process improvement and/or project leadership experience
  • Proven experience in cultural transformation, daily management systems, team facilitation, leadership coaching, and program planning.
  • Superior presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experienced and comfortable working directly with clients at a managerial, senior leadership and c-suite level
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with senior executives, as well as leaders at all levels in the business
  • Ability to challenge leaders when necessary and appropriate to ensure project/team success
  • Experience with coaching teams for improvement
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality, executive-level PowerPoint presentations
  • Proficient in project management tools and software.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with use of computer and software applications including Minitab, Microsoft Project, Teams, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to experiment with and understand new software/tools in a rapidly changing environment

Preferred:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address operational challenges. (Lean/Six Sigma background preferred)
  • Master Black Belt training or certification preferred
