Job description

Note: APA operates on a 37.5-hour work week with one hour lunch breaks each day. APA sets salaries based on several considerations, including years of relevant experience, level of education, and previous staff and/or governance experience at APA.

DESCRIPTION:

The Global Health Specialist and Program Manager works closely with the senior director to develop, manage, execute, evaluate, and improve Global Health programs and initiatives under the purview of the Office of International Affairs (OIA). The Global Health Specialist and Program Manager participates in the development, management, implementation, and evaluation of public and Global Health initiatives within the OIA at APA. The Global Health Specialist and Program Manager is also responsible for cultivating and maintaining partnerships with national, regional, and international organizations across the globe with the goal of optimizing relationships to expand APA’s global efforts, including increasing member engagement, revenue opportunities, and organizational influence.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree in public health required from college/university.
  • Six to eight years of experience in training with MH and global work.
  • Experience leading projects and coordinating across teams (IT, graphic design, content experts, etc.) to effectively develop and execute critical programs and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated record of cultivating and maintaining relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse partners.
  • Experience developing and promoting initiatives through product development, design, and outreach that is innovative and graphically captivating.
  • Experience creating memos, legislative summaries, reports, white papers, and position statements for program-wide communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time constraints.
  • Training and experience in web content, digital platforms and written content
  • Experience evaluating national, regional and international programs, identifying gaps, and providing solutions in real-time with an emphasis on rapid improvement and long-term sustainability.
  • Experience working and problem-solving in environments that require meeting deadlines and flexibility in work tasks and approaches, including the ability to effectively engage international partners.
  • Experience managing calendars of high-level executives and coordinating meetings across time zones. Set meeting agendas and engage in meaningful follow-up for global leaders and networks of leaders partnering with APA.
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector, preferably mental health.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient knowledge of Zoom and virtual meeting
  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and website design
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and
  • Proficient knowledge of survey programs (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey).
  • Proficient understanding of JIRA, Asana, or similar programs for internal work management

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute OIA programs, including the Global Psychology Learning Leadership Institute (LLI), International Learning Partner Programs (ILPP), MOU Partner Programs and Grants, virtual and in-person events, and other initiatives as needed to support the strategic direction of APA.
  • Organize, promote, implement, and evaluate OIA programs, including management of projects and tasks across APA teams to ensure timely and quality end results.
  • Cultivate and maintain meaningful and impactful global partnerships with national, regional, and international psychological organizations through management of the Global Psychology Alliance (GPA), International Learning Partner Programs (ILPP) and MOU Partner Program.
  • Manage communications between and serve as point of contact for leaders (President’s and CEOs) of GPA member associations, LLI Established Leaders (mentors) and Emerging Leaders (mentees), and MOU partner Co-lead (with senior director) high level meetings with global partners.
  • Oversee the administrative, planning/program development, and supervisory aspects of OIA’s public health and Global Health objectives.
  • Provide content expertise in the development and dissemination of resources, messages, and materials pertaining to public health and Global Health.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners across the globe.
  • Identify and convene working groups for collaboration, while tracking progress and outcomes of these efforts.
  • Coordinate and monitor ongoing efforts and long-term outcomes of LLI, GPA, MOU Partner Program, ILPP, and other programs/initiatives as needed.
  • Develop, review, edit, and promote OIA initiatives through product development, design and outreach that is high quality and innovative.
  • Manage member engagement, enrollment, and inquiries for the MOU Partner Program and International Learning Partner Programs (ILPP).
  • Maintain and create OIA web resources, including maintenance of up-to-date content, captivating visuals and user-friendly Serve as primary liaison between OIA and the Information Technology and Communications teams to achieve this goal.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with partners to elevate APA’s brand and mission and increase revenue, guided by APA’s Strategic Plan.
  • Lead working groups within the GPA, ILPP, and MOU programs.
  • Organize meetings, create meeting agendas, and assign action items after meetings.
  • Coordinate all phases of the communications process, including with membership, the broader community and external partners for programs and initiatives under job purview.
  • Develop strategies and implement tactics to drive awareness and participation in OIA’s programs and initiatives, expand impact of OIA’s tools and Programs, as well as

          organizational partner and member engagement.

  • Support senior director on-site during programs and events as needed, including international travel.

 

Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Work closely with senior director on development of members surveys, program reports, and metrics for other initiatives as needed.
  • Continuous innovation in the application of program needs, opportunities for cross- directorate and organization collaboration, and project management.
