The Global Application Delivery Engineer III, under the general direction from the Global Application Delivery Manager, will focus primarily on day to day support activities of all F5 BIG-IP and Citrix Netscaler environments, management of all devices, developing solutions and the mastery of multiple modules on the BIG-IP platforms. Furthermore, the engineer will be responsible for all load balancer support for cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, IBM, Google, etc.).

About the role:

JOB DUTIES
- Serve as Subject Matter of Expert (SME) of F5 LTM/GTM, and some knowledge of Citrix Netscaler and GSLB
- Perform daily operational tasks included in-depth troubleshooting of issues
- Maintain and administer load balancing standards, documentation, processes and procedures
- Work closely with other team members to integrate load balancing devices into the overall network design
- Interface with IT Architecture, Global Network Operations, and Cybersecurity teams to activate load balancer related services both locally and abroad
- Assist with problem resolution as required
- Responsible for updating technical documentation associated with each implementation
- Willingness to be a part of a growing and diverse team, in an area of new and rapidly expanding technological innovation
- Willingness to expand and branch out knowledge in additional F5 modules such as Access Policy Manager (APM), Application Security Manager (ASM)
- Willingness to expand knowledge to support Citrix Netscaler, AppViewX ADC+ platform, API/Python, and related load balancers
- Willingness to perform certain job duties after hours and on weekends as needed; participate in 24x7 on call rotation

Knowledge
- Local and wide area networking concepts, principles and protocols
- Advanced understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices and processes
- Advanced understanding of the OSI level, routing and switching protocols as they relate to load balancing (STP, BGP, OSPF, TCP, SSL, SNAT, TLS, SSH, NTP)
- Strong understanding of application layer protocols including HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, SSL, TLS, and DNS
- Experience with TCPdump, Wireshark, HTTPwatch or other traffic analyzing tools
- Knowledge and stay abreast on the latest security and privacy legislation, regulations, advisories, alerts and vulnerabilities
- Knowledge of IT security processes and controls as well as IT infrastructure and networking technical knowledge
- Functional understanding of an additional F5 modules such as APM, ASM, or AFM with a willingness to accelerate learning in these areas
- Advanced knowledge and experience to complete configurations on the F5, including OS upgrades, vlan and/or port trunking, configuration restores, device migrations and general troubleshooting on the devices
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience of design, configure, maintain the F5 BIG-IP Viprion or iSeries model and secure the multi-tenant with vCMP
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience of F5 iRules, TMSH, iApp, Netscaler Application Templates, etc
- Understand of F5’s iControl, REST API, and AppViewX application provisioning platforms
- Experience on F5 versions v11x or higher preferred
- Experience with Application Layer Security
- Experience with DevOps in application service automation, REST API and general API consumption is plus
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery practices and automation tools such as ansible, puppet, Chef, AppViewX is a plus
- Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Unix Shell, TMSH, Powershell, Python is a plus
- Experience with other load balancer from cloud service providers such as Azure, AWS, Google is a plus
Skills
- Ability to apply structured analysis methods to various types of data to establish trends, determine variability and business impact
- Ability to effectively negotiate with vendors on upgrades and acquisitions
- Ability to approach problems with an open-mind and create new and innovative ideas and methods
- Strong analytical skills
Experience and Education
- Experience with LTM (Local Traffic Manager)
- Automation scripting experience (Python, Bash, Powershell, Unix Shell, etc.)
- Azure experience
- 5-7 years of experience working with Big-IP F5's preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred
Licenses
- F5 Certification preferred
