Summary

The Global Development and Surgical Innovations Director is responsible for managing effective relationships with international and domestic surgeons, researchers, and eye bank professionals to increase global collaboration opportunities, investigate new and innovative service lines by performing strategic research and quantitative analysis, implementing global eye bank development projects, creating business development plans, and evaluating Innovation-driven growth prospects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the Development and maintenance of positive relationships and partnerships with professional constituents and organizations outside and inside the United States, including surgeons, researchers, surgical centers, hospitals, and eye banks.
  • Provide education and information on Eversight and its services to professional constituents outside the United States.
  • Evaluate opportunities and successfully implement strategies to increase market share and placement opportunities outside the United States.
  • Evaluate international market data to drive performance and help Eversight in new services and product decision-making.
  • Plan, implement, and manage international eye bank development projects, including educating international professional constituents on best practices and principles related to eye donation and transplantation.
  • Collaborate and share market intelligence with operations, marketing, R&D and innovations leaders to drive service line development that ensures competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate with Eversight’s Marketing Communications Department to develop content and materials to educate international professional constituents and promote Eversight services outside the United States.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations, etc.
  • Organize and lead wet labs and other clinical training opportunities for international surgeons and other professional constituents.
  • Assist the Eversight Quality Improvement staff in providing service to international surgeons and eye banks, including collaborating in QI investigations.
  • Collaborate with international research partners on appropriate studies, papers, presentations, and other projects. Participate in international research and development efforts to improve eye banking practice.
  • Collaborate with Research and Development department to design, execute, analyze and implement projects related to innovations in corneal transplantation and eye banking.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Mission and Values of Eversight.
  • May supervise and oversee daily activities of other team members.

Qualifications

Education:Post-graduate degree preferred.

Experience:Prior eye banking and/or corneal transplantation research is required. 5-7 years of experience required. Successful experience with high-level surgeon contacts, Ophthalmology or international eye bank development projects is highly preferred.

Skills:Ability to develop strong client relationships and build valued and trusted partnerships with professional constituents. Fluency in multiple languages is preferred. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to analyze data to determine actions and achieve expected outcomes. Ability to problem solve. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with people within and outside of the organization. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Ability to write manuscripts, progress reports and grants is required.

Knowledge:Competency and familiarity with varied international cultural contexts is preferred.

Requires frequent travel, both within the United States and internationally. A valid passport and U.S. driver’s license are required.

Work environment and physical demands

Work is performed in a normal office environment with frequent short and long-distance travel. Travel is required up to 50% of the year and includes both domestic and international destinations. Travel is subject to change based on project and business needs. Frequently work out of hotel rooms and at customer sites is necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for long periods of time. Will occasionally be required to lift objects up to 50 pounds. Routine use of computer and cell phone. Limited noise, room temperature fluctuation and dust are possible Use of personal vehicle is required when traveling within the service area.
