Description
This job is a procurement leadership role for specialized parts which fall under two major product lines – Electric Rope Shovels and Draglines. The candidate should be a Procurement leader with strong business acumen who understands the supply base, sourcing of parts and aftermarket business of ERS, DGL and Expanded Mining product lines. The Category Manager must act as a liaison between the Suppliers, the Product group, Engineering team and Customers. The person should be able to develop and implement sourcing strategies and manage the supply base with effectiveness in terms of cost, quality, and velocity aspects.
Very close collaboration with the Product Engineering team and able to visualize the timelines and challenges for demanding FMP products, especially in the aftermarket area. Should develop and implement MGPP for supply base transformation.
Manages strategic breakthrough categories to deliver year over year Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development and Management (QCLDM) performance improvements from the supply base.
Job Duties
• Accountable for the development, communication, and implementation of a worldwide sourcing strategy for a specific category.
• Identifying performance gaps within the supply base and developing improvement plans for the identified gaps.
Comply to the procurement guidelines and purchasing practices.
Team management, Overseeing the preparation of cost estimations, reduce overall product/part development/sourcing cycle times.
Predict and identify potential failure modes in the supply base and proactively mitigate the risks.
• Collaborating with the Supply Network on risk mitigation and using predictive cost modeling both geographic and component-based.
• Identifying, developing, and managing a high-performing global supply network
Skill Descriptors
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

• Develop sourcing strategies, design the supply base and identify improvement opportunities in the supply base.

• Setting realistic targets with the stakeholders when demanded and under pressure.

Audit and Compliance Function: Knowledge of major responsibilities and tasks of Audit and Compliance (A&C) function; ability to manage the operation of A&C function in various business environment.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Facilitates compliance-related business process implementation or improvement initiatives.
• Implements specific organizational changes made in response to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
• Contributes to development of A&C strategies and plans.
• Compliance to Cat Purchasing Practices and regional / local facility guidelines and international trade.
• Contributes to the establishment of best practices for A&C.
Category Management: Knowledge of category management; ability to use this knowledge to analyze and improve the end-to-end procurement process and maximize business profitability.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Advises on streamlining the procurement strategy to realize the strategic benefits of category management.
• Designs and develops supplier agreements and procurement policies with standard terms and conditions.
• Identifies roadblocks in the implementation of category management and recommends innovative solutions.
• Supervises the execution of all stages of the category management process.
Supplier Management: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Monitors supplier performance; works to resolve discrepancies between performance and agreements.
• Develops quality standards and controls for suppliers.
• Evaluates issues and terminates supplier relationships as appropriate; works with legal departments.
• Ensures the fulfillment of report and record-keeping requirements.
Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Designs and develops standard supplier agreements and procurement policies with standardized terms and conditions.
• Works with complex strategic sourcing components including but not limited to negotiations, contracting, and continuous process improvement and implementation.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering
7-10 years of Job-related work experience in procurement or engineering
Top Candidates will also have
Advanced Degree in Procurement
Exposure to design and Engineering processes, Product Lifecycle management and aftermarket business.

The location for this position is Tucson, AZ.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
This position may require 20-30% travel.
