Community & Veterans Services consist of the following Division/Sections: Adult Services, Aging & Eligibility, Animal Welfare, Children Services, Community Development, Criminal Justice Coordination, Library Services, Neighborhood Connections, Probation Services, and Veterans Services. We provide support that fill the gaps in Manatee County residents' lives to help them remain employed or become reemployed, stay in school, rehabilitate, gain new skills, or make ends meet. We facilitate, partner with non-profit agencies, communities, and organizations and oversee human services that fulfill a wide range of needs.
The GIS Analyst focuses on mapmaking and spatial analysis. Primary duties include using mapping software to analyze spatial data and design digital maps. The information is gathered to make correct decisions. Utilizes Survey 123 to create community surveys; designs maps for internal use and creates mobile and online applications; makes assessments and recommendations.
NOTE: POSITION LEVEL AND SALARY WILL BE DEPENDENT ON QUALIFICATIONS (DOQ)

Minimum Qualifications
Required Skills
GIS Analyst I
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college, supplemented with major course work in computer science, geography or environmental science or related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in the areas of information technology systems analysis and programming.
  • Valid Florida driver's license, valid driver's license within 30 days of hire.

GIS Analyst II
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college supplemented with major course work in computer science, geography or environmental science or related field.
  • Two (2) or more years of work experience in GIS or information technology systems analysis and programming.

GIS Analyst III
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, supplemented with major course work in computer science, geography or environmental science or related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' work experience in the areas of information technology systems analysis and programming, with at least three (3) years working with GIS and spatially database workflows.
  • Experience in directing team projects to successful completion and providing stable documented GIS products.

Desired Skills
  • Basic to advanced knowledge of geographic concepts, techniques, coordinate systems, spatial analysis, relational databases, and SQL
  • Basic to advanced knowledge of cartographic techniques and map production
  • Basic to advanced knowledge of GIS software, ESRI software/solutions, web GIS, and programming (web-based and GIS).
