Project Overview
This is a 12-month project/assignment working a hybrid schedule in Albany NY paying $35-45/hr DOE
GIS Mapping Analyst will be tasked with technical work involving the design, development, maintenance, and production of geospatial databases, hard copy and digital map products, and web maps and apps within an enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) environment.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
• Determine user needs; assist in the design, construction, maintenance, and production of geospatial data, maps, and apps in responding to those needs;
• Train and support users in the use of the resulting geospatial data, maps and apps
• Exercise considerable independence in the performance of duties and receives general guidance from a superior
• Design, create, update, and maintain digital geospatial datasets using various information sources according to documented procedures and policies, including digitizing from hard copy records, assimilation of existing digital datasets, processing data collected in the field.
• Assist staff and the public with GIS information requests, GIS database queries, geospatial analysis, training, and intermediate technical support
Skills
• Ability to competently understand procedures and various instructions contained in technical writings
• Proficient with the Esri ArcGIS software suite
• Experience with ArcGIS Online website deployment
• Experience with Enterprise GIS deployment
• Experience with Python (preferred)
• Be able to analyze and prioritize situations as they arise daily
• Computer skills in MS Office Suite
• Demonstrated knowledge of mapping technologies and concepts
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in basic math, geometry, and mapping concepts
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science or similar field with 3-5 years of experience
