Primary Responsibilities
The ideal local intern candidate will be committing up to 20 hours per week and working year round. This is not a season internship. The idea candidate will be working in the office alongside and mentored by a licensed engineer, no remote work is allowed.
In the role of GIS Intern, we'll count on you to:
• Offer real-world experience on exciting project
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals program
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedure
• Independently conduct advanced spatial analyses using ArcGIS software
• Work with project teams and clients to design and effectively apply GIS on regulatory and permitting elements of infrastructure project
• Create maps, databases, and web-based GIS resource
• Develop geodatabase schemas and analysis methods needed to support project goal
• Configure, develop, and support web GIS applications using Esri Story Maps, Field Maps, and other offerings within ArcGIS Online platform
• Communicate and collaborate with remote team members and individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field.
• Experience and education in GIS
• Proficient with ESRI GIS platform applications (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, AGOL)
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
• Good verbal and written communication skill
• Attention to detail a must
• Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skill
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• An attitude and commitment to quality, teaming, innovative problem solving, communication, relationship management, and the culture that is integral to our employee ownership model
Preferred Qualifications
• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Programing experience preferred
• Field data collection experience preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Strong preference will be given to local candidate
