Designs, develops and programs methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse "big data" sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services and product enhancement. Interacts with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments. Develops and codes software programs, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. Identifies meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources; interprets and communicates insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.
Works on problems of moderate scope, where analysis of situations or data requires assessment of a variety of factors. Exercises judgement within defined policies and procedures to determine appropriate action. Receives only general instructions on routine work, while receiving detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
What will you be doing?
- Work directly with Maxar's One World Terrain (OWT) Engineering and subcontractor teams by providing GIS data development services.
- Primarily responsible for collection and management of source data, development of processes for maps, development of the conflation process, support OWT Data Model development initiatives, and development of the airport data production process
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Geography, or related geoscience field. Equivalent work experience may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree.
- 5+ years of experience with direct terrain data development.
- 5+ years of experience with developing GIS datasets for simulation runtime databases.
- 5+ years of experience working with various simulation input data types to include imagery, elevation data, and vector data.
- Knowledge of geospatial data products.
Preferred Skills:
We are looking for a versatile team member who likes to get their hands dirty across a variety of projects. Experience in some of these areas is ideal, but you aren't required to have experience in all:
- Active Secret clearance.
- Extensive knowledge in a variety of GIS applications including ArcPro, ArcGIS, Global Mapper and QGIS.
- Fluency and open source geospatial tools and data such as GDAL and OSM.
- Experience developing geospatial/modeling & simulation programs or image generators.
- Experience in data model development.
- Ability to automate workflows using Python Experience using geospatial methodology and tools (e.g. ArcGIS, ArcPro, QGIS)
- Basic understanding of IT systems such as Linux and Windows.
- Experience in CADRG Maps and production.
- Experience in data management.
- Experience in 3D Tile development.
- Experience working with distributed team members and international team members.
- Proficient in technical writing for processes and procedures.
Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate's unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$89,000.00 - $147,000.00 annually.
