Job Summary:
Rock Energy Cooperative is seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and analyzing geographic data to support our organization's day-to-day operations and long-term objectives. The candidate must work with operations and field staff to identify ways to optimize established workflows, data capture processes, and reporting systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- GIS Database Management
- Design, implement and maintain GIS databases to store and retrieve spatial data.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy through regular quality checks and updates.
- Mapping and Spatial Analysis
- Conduct spatial analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Generate insightful reports and visualizations based on spatial data analysis.
- Create and export custom map images to communicate information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Data Collection and Integration
- Collect and integrate geographic data from various sources, including satellite imagery, GPS, and field surveys.
- Collaborate with other departments to incorporate non-spatial data into GIS databases.
- Workflow Automation
- Incorporate programming and scripting languages to automate regular and or frequent ETL processes.
- Utilize built-in GIS data relationships to reduce manual data entry and ensure accurate data capture quality.
- Software and Technology
- Stay abreast of the latest GIS technologies and software.
- Provide training and support to staff on GIS tools and applications.
- Documentation
- Document GIS procedures, data sources, and workflows for future reference.
- Ensure that all GIS activities comply with organizational and industry standards.
- Problem-solving and process-driven thinking.
- Work independently and in a team-focused environment.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in conveying technical knowledge and processes to non-technical staff.
- Strong understanding of spatial analysis techniques and methods.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering, or related field.
- Two years of experience in a GIS-focused role, including the following:
- Experience in the utility industry, with natural gas distribution and/or electric distribution.
- Experience with SQL Database Management.
- Experience with editing and managing spatial data within the utility industry.
- Familiarity interacting with ArcGIS Utility Network.
- Familiarity with web-based GIS services in an ArcGIS Enterprise environment.
- Proficiency in GIS software including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Survey123, and ArcGIS Field Maps.
- Familiarity with programming and scripting languages for the purpose of developing extract, transfer, and load processes, including Python, SQL, JavaScript, and ArcGIS Arcade.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL Server Management Studio, and AutoCAD.
