Major Gifts Officer Job Summary
Playing a leading role as one of a growing team of Major Gifts Officers responsible for developing deep and long-term relationships with individuals and foundations providing $10,000 or more in financial resources. Draw donors into the work of JVI by providing them with a clear and compelling understanding of the opportunity they have to bring freedom, justice, and restoration to victims of extreme injustice. Collaborate with the wider development team on executing events and packing offers, proposals, and reports that meet the needs of prospective and existing donors.
Responsibilities
- Develop over $500,000 in new annual revenue by increasing the giving of a portfolio of existing donors and develop a portfolio of new major donors comprised of high-network individuals and foundations
- Plan and implement an annual portfolio management strategy to ensure excellence in donor care and effective moves management
- Network through assigned current donors to identify new prospective major donor relationships
- Arrange and execute events for and through existing donors that open the door for JVI to engage with select prospective donor invitees from within their spheres of influence
- Represent JVI in various settings and speak to a range of audiences about the opportunity to partner with JVI
- Arrange for donors to meet with key JVI leaders one-to-one and by having leaders speak at various events
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
- Proven experience in sales and/or fundraising, with a track record of managing and developing major accounts / portfolio of high net-worth donors
- Existing network of potential donors within a region
- Ability to quickly master a technical subject area and translate it for donor audiences
- Superb communication skills, presence, ability to relate, motivate and inspire, grounded in high emotional intelligence
- Possess a mature, orthodox Christian faith
Working Environment and Conditions
Frequent domestic and some international travel required. Frequent weekend and evening work to accommodate donor schedules.
