Gift Shop Associate

General Purpose:

The Gift Shop Sales Associate provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means providing outstanding customer service, keeping displays and tables stocked, neat, clean and attractive, and being the final line for quality control in the department.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Reports to:Gift Shop Manager

Job Description:

• Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service
• Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams
• When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand
• Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, counters, shelves and displays
• Fill inventory if necessary
• Ringing register
• Boxing & gift bagging
• Maintain clean shop, including dusting shelves and vacuuming
• Fill card racks
• Checking in orders
• Pricing & displaying merchandise
• If assigned, receive, unload and inspect deliveries

Physical Requirements:

Employees must be physically able to:

• Climb a stepladder
• Unpack & move merchandise throughout shop
• Reach to stock shelves and clean store
• Vacuum and dust
• Stand for long periods of time
• Lift boxes up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain proper attire and be well groomed

Mental/Reasoning Requirements:

• Basic math skills
• Must be able to read & write
• Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and managers
