Job Title: Gift Shop Assistant Manager
Division / Department: Retail Operations / 31-81 Gift Shop
Status: Regular, Full-time
Pay: $17.64 per hour
Reports to: Director of Retail Operations

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Gift Shop Assistant Manager will assist the Director of Retail Operations with all daily operations of the new 31-81 Gift Shop. Responsibilities include providing exceptional customer service, shop supervision, inventory control, training, and motivating staff, and maintaining accurate accounting records.
Description:
  • Managing and motivating the team to increase sales, providing training and direction.
  • Promotes sales by demonstrating merchandise and products to customers.
  • Schedules employees based on operational needs of the store.
  • Assigns goals to employees to effectively manage their day-to-day activities.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and reinforcing organization standards.
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing a rapport with customers.
  • Ensures availability of merchandise by replenishing store stock levels daily.
  • Resolves customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Responsible for the store’s inventory control. Assists in inventory counts, identifies shortages or surpluses and reports all discrepancies to the Director of Retail Operations.
  • Assists with monitoring and controlling wages and store expenses based on the operating budget and expected customer visitation projections.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper cash controls in the Gift Shop. Responsible for following and ensuring all staff follow proper cash and credit card handling policies and procedures.
  • Prepares daily revenue reports. Ensures that all store accounting reports are accurate and submitted promptly.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper PCI compliance as required by credit card regulations.
  • Keeps abreast of retail operations and attends meetings as requested. Makes sure all guest services staff is aware of changes at the beginning of each shift.
  • Enforces program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a high school degree or a recognized equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of retail store management required.
  • Proven experience in pricing, vendor relationships, market knowledge, staffing, management proficiency, verbal and written communication.
  • Must be detail-oriented and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Must be outgoing, personable, friendly and love working with people.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid drivers license required, must have reliable transportation
  • Flexible availability required, must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional early evenings.
  • Regular and predictable punctuality and attendance of scheduled hours is required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • 90% of the typical workday will be spent standing and walking.
  • Between 25 and 50% of the day will be spent lifting, grasping, feeling and climbing, pushing, and pulling.
  • Less than 25% of the day will be spent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and sitting.
  • Sensory abilities include vision, hearing, and touching with more than 50% of the day spent communicating; talking, and hearing.
  • Must have visual clarity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned as well as close visual clarity to prepare, analyze data and figures, and operate and view a computer.
  • Majority of work will be performed within an indoor office environment. Typically work is not conducted in adverse environmental conditions.
  • Noise level is considered quiet to normal.
