Job Description: NA Payroll TAX Officer
The GHR Payroll Officer will be part of the Global Payroll Service Delivery team and will contribute to the US and Canada Payroll Administration working directly with our 3rd party outsource provider, as well as our key internal stakeholders and other functional leads.
This role will also lead in the Payroll Administration of the Latin America payrolls Working directly with our 3rd party outsource provider, as well as our key internal stakeholders and CoE’s and functional leads.
This role will be responsible for leveraging State Street’s Workday HCM / Payroll platform and other supporting systems such as our Service Provider tax and garnishment applications. This person will have a critical role in supporting payroll, our tax liability reporting, ensuring all federal and state tax laws and regulations are followed and up to date, auditing, working with General Ledger team, banking with respect to tax reconciliation and funding.
As the GHR Payroll Officer, you will be responsible to ensure that US, Canada and Latin America tax activities with related Compliance requirements are managed and carried out with our Service Providers, as agreed upon in the contract and aligned with SLAs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Investigates and responds to tax notices from federal, state, and local agencies in a timely manner.
- Reconcile monthly, quarterly, and yearly payroll related tax filings.
- Assist with US and Canada Workers Compensation filings and tax remittance.
- Research laws and regulations regarding federal, state, and local taxes, taxable events, and payroll withholding procedures in a multi-state environment.
- Assist with LatAm payroll administration by working with third party vendors and internal COE’s to process net payroll, tax remittances, and other statutory payments as required.
- Ensures state, provincial, and local taxes are set up appropriately for each associate in compliance with state and local tax laws.
- Responsible for reconciling US and Canada payroll funding and provides backup documentation to finance for Payroll TAX funding.
- Assist with annual W-2 and T-4 submission.
- Manage shared mailbox on a daily basis and retrieve documentation from tax authorities.
- Coordinates unemployment tax rate process including Workday setup and communication to third-party vendors.
- Establish and maintain Payroll TAX accounts for all US and Canada State Street Legal Entities.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual pension payment processing.
- Maintain POA for third party vendors.
- Responds to escalated tax inquiries when needed.
- Provides audit support.
Essential Experience:
- A minimum of two (3-5) years of working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax concepts in a multi-state environment.
- Working knowledge of Workday, Alight tax, and Equifax Unemployment Management is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Salary Range:
$65,000 - $102,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
