Job description

We’re looking for a Mid- to Senior-Level Geomorphologist who is inspired by stream restoration and passionate about improving stream ecology and fish passage programs. As a member of our Natural Resources practice, you will work with other scientists, engineers, landscape architects, and construction experts as a part of multidisciplinary teams to assess and improve stream functions in the Puget Sound and the greater Pacific Northwest.


About You

You must be collaborative, thorough, and well organized. Additionally, you must have good time management and excellent verbal and written communication skills.


You have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology with emphasis in fluvial geomorphology (master’s degree preferred)
  • Sediment transport modeling and sediment collection experience
  • Project experience should include fish passage barrier removal and other stream restoration projects
  • GIS experience for geomorphic and water resources analysis and map preparation
  • Strong technical writing and speaking skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and ability to lead others as the task lead
  • Strong work ethic, sense of humor, and desire for team success
  • Professional Geologist License

To thrive in this position, you may also have these qualifications:

  • Experience providing professional services to a variety of sectors, with experience on a variety of engineering and environmental projects, including water resources, ecosystem restoration, geomorphic assessments, and permitting.

About the Role

In this position, you’ll work with a highly collaborative team to:

  • Lead and assist with technical studies, geomorphic assessments, and designs for ecological restoration and mitigation projects
  • Conduct stream and habitat field analyses (field and desktop), including assessments of lateral and vertical channel stability, develop recommendations, and assist in the preparation of technical reports such as design reports, floodplain analyses, channel migration analyses, and sediment transport studies
  • Work with junior staff to develop skillsets related to fluvial geomorphology.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, and local governments
  • Lead/assist with client management, project management, and business development
  • Review and evaluate technical reports and plans of proposed projects
  • Provide technical support during project construction
  • Support marketing efforts and client development

Location: This position can be based out of our Bellevue or Bellingham offices.


Travel: Up to 20%
