Description
JOB DESCRPTION:
  • Perform complex data analysis using ArcGIS and related applications, relational databases, and other computer software.
  • Apply GIS capabilities to solve elaborate spatial and relational problems.
  • Provide overall management and technical assistance to users of GIS within the CARES network.
  • Maintain and expand all GIS resources, including data and software, to ensure users can efficiently and effectively utilize GIS-based applications.
  • Coordinate GIS efforts to optimize the utility and value of all digital resources.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure that GIS supports the objectives of CARES effectively.
  • Manage, update, and maintain the geographic data, shapefiles, and spatial databases relevant to cardiac arrest incidents, response times, and survival rates.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS is essential.
  • Familiarity with other GIS software and tools, such as QGIS, ESRI ArcGIS Online, Centrus Desktop Geocoder and related extensions/add-ons, is also required.
  • Work on integrating geospatial data with other databases and systems within and external to CARES to support decision-making and research.
  • Create visually appealing and informative maps, charts, and reports for communicating spatial data findings to stakeholders, researchers, and decision-makers.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity and develop and enforce data quality standards within the GIS system.
  • Develop educational materials and provide training to CARES staff and end-users in GIS tools and techniques.
  • Create and maintain documentation for GIS workflows and procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, emergency responders, and public health agencies to ensure the integration of spatial data into CARES research and response efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, or a related field or bachelor's degree in an unrelated field and 5 years of GIS experience.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS and other GIS software applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on spatial and relational data.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide technical assistance and training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Experience with healthcare or public health data is a plus.
  • Project management skills and the ability to coordinate GIS efforts effectively.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
