This position provides clinical cancer genetic services under the auspices of the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center with Sansum Clinic. The Genetic Counselor works closely with medical providers in the
evaluation of patients and families at high risk for hereditary cancer. Major responsibilities include delivery of current, evidence-based cancer genetic counseling, cancer risk assessment and multidisciplinary medical and supportive care to patients and families. The Genetic Counselor collaborates with other medical specialty groups to expand the role of risk assessment and genetic services in the community. The Genetic Counselor serves as an institutional resource for complex medical issues related to hereditary cancer syndromes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Masters of Science or Master of Arts in Genetic Counseling conferred by a genetic counseling program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
- Certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics or the American Board of Genetic Counseling
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience working with and counseling families at a higher risk for cancer
