Description
As Knoxville's premier maternal-fetal medicine practice, High Risk Obstetrical Consultants(HiROC) provides state of the art care for women with risk factors that may affect their pregnancy. Our team of highly trained physicians and healthcare professionals (including maternal-fetal specialists, nurse practitioners, sonographers, and a Genetic Counselor) is seeking to add another full-time Genetic Counselor .
High Risk Obstetrical Consultants provides services to women and families across east Tennessee through our main office, several satellite clinics, and telehealth services. Our main location is located within the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, which provides the benefits of working in an academic medical center while being part of a private practice. We have a strong network of referrals as a member of the State of Tennessee Regional Perinatal Centers. Responsibilities
The Genetic Counselor will provide services for the full scope of preconception and pregnancy related genetic indications. Primary responsibilities include providing genetic counseling to patients, determining optimal prenatal genetic testing strategies, reporting genetic test results, coordinating the care of pregnancies with identified anomalies/genetic conditions, and serving as a resource to physicians throughout the perinatal service region, other healthcare staff, and students.
Many opportunities to participate in education through conferences, lectures, and teaching is available. The successful candidate will be closely involved in instruction and collaborative care with OBGYN residents, maternal-fetal medicine fellows, and genetic counseling graduate students from outside programs.
Excellent organization and communication skills, a flexible attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team are key attributes. A willingness to continue learning and having a passion for prenatal clinical care are essential.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited Genetic Counseling Program
  • Must have temporary license or full license for Genetic Counseling in Tennessee prior to start date
  • Must have Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) credential within 24 months of hire
  • New graduates as well as experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
