General Utility Worker

We are looking for a responsible and reliable Utility Worker to maintain The Lyceum Conference Center. In addition to being the home of our administrative offices, The Lyceum is used for board meetings, trainings, seminars and social events. It is important that the Utility Worker be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises to ensure that events run smoothly, and our guests have a VIP experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by completing event room set-ups and breakdowns. This includes lifting heavy tables, moving chairs, and arranging furniture according to specified layouts.
• Take out trash, tidying furniture, and wiping down tables to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards.
• Sweep and mop floors; vacuum carpets to ensure a clean and inviting environment for guests and staff.
• Wash and sanitize toilets and sinks, restock disposables such as soap, towels, and toilet paper to maintain hygienic restroom facilities.
• Wipe mirrors to ensure they are clean and streak-free.
• Report damages or needed repairs promptly to management to maintain the safety and functionality of the facility.
• Secure the facility after operating hours by setting the alarm system and ensuring all doors are properly locked.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in janitorial or utility work preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks such as moving furniture and setting up event spaces.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Strong communication skills to effectively report damages or needed repairs.
• Ability to work independently and responsibly to secure the facility after operating hours.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• $18-23/hour DOE (depending on experience)
