General Utility Worker

SUMMARY:

 Stationed throughout the production area the General Utility helps to palletize and handle products produced to keep the production lines moving at expected production rates. Employee is also a key contributor to plant housekeeping and organization and is versatile enough to be moved to a station where they are needed throughout the shift. The General Utility is cross-trained in all possible work stations to and this position is a gateway to a Packaging Operator position.

 TEAM INTERACTIONS:

·         Supports their production team by stacking product, product palletization, raw material preparation and general housekeeping.

·         Supports product quality by ensuring final production inspection and correct assembly of product pallets.·         Supports the warehouse and inventory team through proper wrapping and labeling of the product.

·         Supports the plant by maintaining a very high level of housekeeping and sanitation and by keeping the area safe through a visual  inspection of equipment used and reporting of possible safety hazards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain a high level of safety and safety awareness in the plant and attending all required safety training and mandatory safety meetings.
2. Ensure product packaging quality by monitoring output from the production line to ensure customer satisfaction notifying the Supervisor if something is incorrect or suspect.
3. Palletize and wrap all output product from the production line following established stacking patterns on the correct pallets.
4. Label all pallets correctly to ensure inventory accuracy.

5.    Maintain a high level of workplace cleanliness and hygiene using established methods and standard.

1. Assist in preparation of raw materials and retention of labels for production reporting.
2. Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
3. Complete other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·      High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent educational experience level.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·      Excellent interpersonal skills required, including an ability to work collaboratively within a fast paced and structured environment

·      Strong communication skills

·      Ability to work in seasonal ambient temperature environment for long periods of time.

·      The ideal candidate will need to learn as much as possible and quickly move up to other positions while maintaining a very high work ethic and demonstrating great respect for the company and its property.

NECESSARY COMPETENCIES:

·      Ability to perform simple mathematic functions sufficient for production reporting.

·      The ability to read and write proficiently in English or Spanish

·      Must be able to speak and understand English
