REPORTS TO: General Manager
DEPARTMENT: Operations
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
PURPOSE:
The General Service Technician supports the organization by performing various automotive services for our customers in a safe and timely manner. Communicates needs for parts and services. Maintains the cleanliness of the customer and shop areas.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tire installations/changes
- Oil changes
- Lube and minor automotive repairs as directed
- Conduct vehicle inspections for mechanical services
- Perform scheduled maintenance services on customer vehicles, as directed
- Provide timely communication with management regarding applicable needs
- Record and report any damage to company or customer property immediately
- Maintain shop floor clean and swept
- Pick up and drop off customer vehicles
- All other duties as assigned based on the needs of the business
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and comprehend service and repair manuals
- Ability to perform tasks/repairs in a timely fashion
- Ability to work well independently or in a team environment and take direction when applicable
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues
- Must have the ability to perform work in a safe manner and adhere to safety policies
- Must be able to handle pressure and think clearly in all situations
REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must be able to work five days a week...Saturdays included
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be 18 years of age or older or have an applicable work permit
- If in the state of Georgia or Texas, you must have your Emissions/State Certification, or become certified within 60-days of hire
- Tire and lube technician experience a PLUS
- Customers
INTERNAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Frequent interaction within work location, including but not limited to some interaction with corporate personnel as needed
WORK CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USE:
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to inspect the vehicle to determine repairs needed
- Good vision to inspect repair work
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
- Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when applicable
