Northwest Children's Hospital at Northwest Texas Healthcare System is assisting Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), Amarillo campus in recruiting a BC/BE General Pediatrician for an employed faculty position to include providing services at our hospital.

 

The Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Residency Program at TTUHSC at  Amarillo is a collegial, tight-knit  community of residents and faculty with a big mission to train confident and compassionate physicians and deliver evidence-based, family-centered care for a diverse population in an open learning environment. The department of 10 Pediatricians and 5 APPs enjoys a strong reputation in the region and includes General Pediatrics and pediatric subspecialties including neonatal-perinatal, cardiology, critical care, endocrinology, hematology-oncology, neurology, sports medicine, surgery, and developmental-behavioral. 

 

Opportunity Highlights:

  • Employed position and faculty appointment with TTUHSC Amarillo
  • Mix of outpatient clinic (80% clinical) and teaching residents and medical students (20% academic)
  • Typical weekly schedule 4 days in clinic, one day for administrative and teaching

Qualifications:

  • BC/BE in Pediatrics
  • Become board certified within a year of hire date if BE
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics residency program
  • Exemplary clinical skills, a team spirit, collegiality, an interested in training pediatric residents and medical students
  • Clean background and medical license record

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine has three campuses in Lubbock, Amarillo, and the Permean Basin. Serving the healthcare needs of over 2.5 Million people in a 108-county area, Texas Tech physicians provide care in a comprehensive range of specialties as well as clinical research and teaching. 

 

Northwest Texas Healthcare System provides comprehensive acute care and outpatient services to the 500,000+ residents of the Texas Panhandle and surrounding region.  As the Trauma Center for the Texas Panhandle and a certified  Advanced Primary Stroke Center, the hospital treats over 64,000 patients in its Emergency Department each year. Northwest Children's Hospital is the Panhandle's primary pediatric provider, with many pediatric subspecialties available through our partnership with Texas Tech Amarillo. The hospital offers a 35-bed Level III NICU and a 12-bed PICU to serve patients and families. The Childbirth Center at NWTHS is a Level III Maternal Designation facility with care provided by faculty and community OB/GYNs, MFM specialists, 24-hour OB-certified CRNAs, and high-risk OB trained nurses. NWTHS is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services (UHS), one of the nation's largest  hospital and healthcare management companies.
