Summary of Position:

The General Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of New Hope Housing to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability. The General Operations Manager will oversee and coordinate the organization's day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. The incumbent will play a crucial role in optimizing processes, managing resources (budgets, organizational resources such as copiers, fax machines, organizational telephones, maintenance contracts, physical building leases, food resources, and food vendor contracts, etc.), and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve organizational goals. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Executive Director, Senior Director of Programs, Directors of Program Services, Director of Asset Management, and Administration to determine facility, equipment, food, and operational needs at all sites (shelters and NHH buildings) in which the agency operates.
  • Leads, manages, implements, and approves facilities operations, maintenance and janitorial processes, and kitchen operation procedures and ensures adherence to County, OSHA, and NHH guidelines, safety regulations and laws.
  • Is accountable for meeting organizational needs while adhering to budgetary constraints. This includes effectively managing resources to ensure operational efficiency and financial prudence.
  • Develops and administers the Operations budgets; monitors expenses in order to maximize resources.
  • Supervises the Food Services Manager, Facilities Coordinator, Operations Coordinator, Cooks, and Janitorial staff.
  • Works with the Director of Asset Management to ensure the safety of buildings and grounds by approving and implementing safety procedures and overseeing compliance with them.
  • Ensures that three nutritious meals are provided daily at the shelters in accordance with food handling/environmental health standards.
  • Works with the Director of Community Engagement to identify community resources to meet operational needs and coordinates the involvement of volunteers in various areas such as kitchen duties, maintenance tasks, and other relevant tasks.
  • Ensures that volunteers receive proper supervision and support.
  • Acts as a liaison with other County agencies and businesses responsible for facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Represents New Hope Housing, Inc. in a professional manner to the public.
  • Is available upon request of the Executive Director to speak to the public about the agency and homelessness.
  • Is available to meet with staff committees or the Board of Directors, as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Works flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnights when needed.
  • Participates in agency events, fundraisers, and staff meetings.
  • Models caring, concerned, respectful attitude toward residents.
  • Maintains adherence to resident guidelines and upholds shelter procedures.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with and adherence to the policies and procedures outlined by New Hope Housing, Inc. and OPEH.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BA and five years experience in facilities management, resources management, food handling and food supply management, budgets, and supervisory experience.
  • Appropriate experience may be substituted for education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Valid driver's license.
