JERA Americas (JAM) holds strategic investments in energy infrastructure such as conventional natural gas/oil-fired electricity generation, renewable electricity generation, and natural gas liquefaction. As JAM expands its investments in 2024, we are constructing a Financial Asset Management team to provide standardized services for our wholly-owned and joint venture investments. The General Manager of Financial Asset Management will partner with the VP/Project Controller to construct an organization to take full ownership of financial and accounting management services to its constituents and support the Asset Managers overall. This position requires a highly experienced individual with a background in plant Asset Management, power and gas wholesale markets, and project debt financings. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with the idea of building an organization from the ground up, including hiring and coaching a team of Financial Asset Managers (FAM) required to cover all areas of Financial Asset Management.
FAM Team Essential Functions
- Takes ownership of the financial model and provides short and long-term projections on cashflow and liquidity to the relevant stakeholders
- Responsible for the overall annual budget process, challenging project spend, and producing the financial plan to owners
- Coordinates the financial section of monthly operating reports provided to owners which includes standard metrics for liquidity, budget-to-actual variance explanations, and updated forecasts for the balance of year
- Responsible for all debt reporting and compliance matters and is the single point of contact to lenders and the JAM corporate finance team
- Interfaces with Owners/Board on all finance-related matters including refinancing recommendations, economic hedge levels, financial results and position, and other industry-related concerns
- In tandem with the Project Controller, provides Management assertions to external auditors and shares responsibility for the annual audited financial statements
- Oversees property and casualty insurance program for asset managed entities
Qualifications:
- Ability to create long-term financial models incorporating multi-scenario analysis
- Highly experienced in wholesale power and electricity market mechanisms across various ISO/RTOs and understands the commodity-risk control framework
- Exposure to multiple project financings and is very familiar with the mechanisms contained within structured credit agreements
- Leads annual budget process including negotiating with operators and owners
- Excellent communication skills and regularly presents information to executive level audiences
- Proven track record of developing team members
- Knowledge of renewable tax equity financing structures highly preferred

Supervisory Responsibility
General Manager - Project Financial Asset Management is responsible for directing the activities of each Financial Asset Managers and indirectly oversees accounting members that support FAM activities
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Expected Hours of Work
Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Based on scheduling activities, the employee may require engaging in after hours or weekend work as necessary.
Travel
JERA provides Asset Management services to multiple organizations across the United States. Although we encourage flexibility and usage of virtual meetings, when possible, some travel is expected for this position in order to meet with remote staff, plant officials, financial advisors/institutions, and board of directors. International travel is possible, but not expected at this time.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in finance, accounting, tax, and financial planning in power industry
- Minimum of ten (15) years of experience in finance, accounting, tax, and financial planning
- Knowledge of power generation industry investment and analysis
Preferred Education and Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Master's Degree in accounting or finance
- CPA or other designation
- Strong mathematics and analytical skills
