Job description

We are looking for an experienced General Manager in directing daily business operations in Sanibel, Florida. The General Manager should be experienced in a management role, and be able to confidential deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork and clearly communicate business objectives.

The incumbent is required to have previous General Manager experience in to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

Run the Operational and Financial Management of the Property

  • Ensure the operation is staffed sufficiently for business. Interview, select, train, schedule, coach and support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established brand or hotel standards and consistent with our core values.
  • Oversees, leads, and develops hotel departments to ensure an optimal level of service and hospitality are provided to hotel guests.
  • Prepare forecasts and reports, including 30/60/90 day forecasts, yearly budgets, and assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the budget to maximize revenue and minimize expenses while ensuring adequate supplies and staff are on hand to provide top quality customer service.
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and brand standards and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Oversee the property accounting functions including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, and house bank audits.
  • Oversee smooth operations of Housekeeping and Maintenance Departments and interact directly with the head of departments if necessary
  • Interact with the sales staff to discuss and implement sales strategies to continually improve occupancy levels and revenues.
  • Monitor and maintain the front office systems and equipment to ensure optimum performance.
  • Perform duties of any position as needed.
  • Serve on the hotel’s safety committee.
  • Create specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely action plans to remedy guest service deficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management/supervisor.

Managing the Guest Experience

  • Extends professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.
  • Motivates and encourages staff to solve guest and employee related concerns.
  • Provides excellent customer service by being readily available/approachable for all guests.
  • Takes proactive approaches when dealing with guest concerns.
  • Assists employees in understanding guests ever-changing needs and expectations, and how to exceed them.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred or
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years’ experience in the guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.
  • Intermediate knowledge of overall hotel operations.
  • Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays, weekends and alternate shifts.
