General Purpose:
Plan and direct all restaurant operations. Maintain high standards of food, guest service, health and safety, ensure the efficient and profitable business performance of the restaurant and the optimal utilization of staff and resources. Directly perform hands-on work on an ongoing basis to train employees, respond to guest service needs, or otherwise role model appropriate behavior in the restaurant. General Managers provide overall leadership; recognize and motivate members of the team; coach and train the team for operational excellence. General Managers are expected to be able to work 60 hours per week including peak periods. General Managers are also responsible for managing assistant managers, shift supervisors and all restaurant team members.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Interact with guests
· Co-ordinate restaurant operations during each shift
· Monitor adherence to health, safety and hygiene standards in kitchen and restaurant
· Keep records of health and safety practices
· Ensure compliance with restaurant security procedures
· Advise guest on food and beverage choices
· Ensure cash management procedures are completed accurately
· Nurture a positive working environment and lead by example
· Train and coach staff
· Manage staff performance in accordance with established standards and procedures
· Assess staffing requirements and recruit staff when needed
· Organize and monitor staff schedules
· Maintain employee records
· Ensure quality of food and beverage presentation
· Observe size of food portions and preparation quantities to minimize waste
· Check and order supplies of non-food items
· Identify and estimate food supply requirements and place orders with suppliers
· Schedule food deliveries
· Check quality of deliveries and documentation
· Ensure correct storage of supplies
· Total restaurant receipts and reconcile with sales
· Daily bank deposits
· Prepare and implement standard operating procedures including daily, weekly and/or monthly checklists
· Ensure staff know and adhere to established codes of practice
· Oversee preparation of food and beverage items
· Ensure adherence to set recipes
· Interact with customers to ensure all inquiries and complaints are handled promptly with the goal of turning dissatisfied guest into return guests (this includes managing Square customer feedback portal and Yelp reviews)
· Maintain business records
· Create a plan and budget for team member incentives and/or appreciation measures
· Analyze food and beverage costs
· Plan and monitor restaurant sales and revenue
· Develop initiatives to build sales, profitability and guest counts
· Organize and supervise marketing and promotional activities
· Organize and supervise any Fooda Pop-ups/Events, and/or any other catering related orders.)
· Prepare and analyze management reports
· Determine and execute operating improvements
· Arrange for maintenance and repairs of equipment and services
· Administer Payroll
· Set operating goals and objectives
· Managing P&L for the restaurant location
· Set and monitor budgets
· Implement and oversee cost cutting measures
· Analyze budget variances and take corrective actions
· Establish and implement financial controls
· Identify and evaluate competitors
· Keep current with trends in the restaurant industry
