Convenience Store General Manager Job Description
Our proactive General Manager must enjoy working in an exciting, fast-paced, challenging environment. No two days are ever the same. The GM will promote and grow the business, hire and train C-store staff, positively lead a team while managing labor and inventory costs. Additional duties would be to plan promotional events, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, maintain current licenses and vendor contracts, create schedules and set business objectives to increase profits and promote utmost customer satisfaction. The ability to work with diverse personalities and diffuse tense situations is a must. Our successful GM will be observant, and have the ability to think critically and efficiently. He or she should be a skilled communicator with excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills.
General Manager Responsibilities:
Establish a daily operating routines to ensure store cleanliness including ensuring that all inventory is stocked and pleasing to the eye.
Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, discipline, and terminate employees as necessary
Prepare necessary reports and submit by requested deadlines
Ensure that all licenses are updated and in line with current legislation
Monitor cash over/shorts and reductions in inventory
Promptly document any employee or customer issues and inform the necessary Director of Operations, Human Resources, or Legal departments
General Manager Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
3 years of Convenience store management experience
Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles
Excellent computer, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts
Willingness to work during peak hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources
Decisiveness
Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast paced environment
