HOURLY RATE INCLUDES A $1.50 AN HOUR 2ND SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT AND FOUR YEARS OF RELATED EXPERIENCE. MUST MEET THE DISTRICT VEHICLE LIABILITY POLICY REQUIREMENTS AND MAINTAIN A VALID TEXAS DRIVER'S LICENSE
BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Serve as lead for GENERAL MAINTENANCE crew and perform general and preventative maintenance and repairs of district equipment, structures, buildings, and grounds.

Support of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:
• Serve as lead for GENERAL MAINTENANCE crews by scheduling, assigning duties, training, inspecting work, and assisting personnel.
• Perform minor carpentry duties such as repair of ceilings, bathroom partitions, shelves, braces, doors, and windows; install pencil sharpeners, chalkboards, dry erase boards, toilet paper holders, paper towel and soap dispensers, flag holders, etc.
• Perform minor plumbing duties such as the install and repair of faucets, valves, drains, traps, safety valves, filters, and pipe fittings.
• Perform preventative maintenance and document tasks and results as defined by the position task lists.
• Perform minor electrical duties such as the replacement of light bulbs and ballasts, exit lights, fuses, switches, hand dryers, hair dryers, cords, and plugs.
• Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces and clean area and equipment.
• Evaluate and prioritize maintenance needs, building deficiencies and emergency needs and communicate these to the General Maintenance Supervisor.
• Maintain, repair and inventory tools and equipment as required.
• Provide assistance to campuses/departments as requested.

Other Responsibilities:
• Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Provide training, guidance and direction to assigned staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of methods, practices, and safety precautions of the skilled trades.
• Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, and painting.
• Knowledge of acceptable human resource/supervisory practices and principles.
• Knowledge of basic computer systems and work order systems.
• Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and manuals.
• Skill in performing routine building and grounds maintenance work.
• Skill in the use and care of tools and machinery.
• Skill in operating standard computer and software applications, including but not limited to electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
• Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Skill in guiding the work of others.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work responsibilities and delegate appropriate departmental tasks effectively.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience. Must meet the
District vehicle liability policy requirements and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:
• Walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and carry on a continual basis.
• Use hands repetitively for prolonged period frequently.
• Lift and carry up to 10 lbs. from floor to chest frequently and up to 10 lbs. overhead occasionally.
• Push or pull over 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Operate hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Travel district wide travel frequently.
• Operate light truck or van.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
• Work involves walking on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, scaffolding, and around moving objects or vehicles.
• Work outside in non-climate-controlled weather conditions or inside in climate-controlled conditions.
• Work involves exposure to extreme temperature changes (cold to hot), excessive fumes, toxic chemicals, and excessive loud noises.
