At Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station, we operate a state-of-the-art multipurpose solid waste transfer and material recovery facility in order to serve the community.
We are looking to bring onboard a person who can work as a General Laborer and Scalehouse Operator throughout a regular 40 hour workweek. When working as a General Laborer you will earn $25.03 per hour and when working as a Scalehouse Operator you will earn $28.28 per hour.
GENERAL LABORER – RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain housekeeping around the public unloading area and transfer pits
- Direct traffic into designated unloading areas
- Performs floor sorting and separates materials from recyclable waste when necessary.
- Others duties as assigned
SCALE HOUSE OPERATOR – RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates a platform scale for weighing vehicles that enter the site with refuse or recyclables
- Responsible for determining the proper classification of refuse or recyclable material, in order to apply the appropriate fee rate
- Performs a cursory inspection of loads to prevent the acceptance of hazardous or prohibited materials
- Performs minor housekeeping in and around the scale house by keeping debris away from customer areas and maintaining a clean and orderly interior
- Responsible for assuring that the scale is functioning properly and is zeroed at the beginning of each shift
- Answers customer questions regarding rates and the acceptability of materials.
- Balances daily cash and receipts. Is accountable for cash maintained in the scale house
- Other duties as assigned
LANGUAGE
Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic math skills
- Basis computer skills/data entry
KNOWLEDGE and/or EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of general office administration procedures and specific knowledge of cashier type services and procedures. Ability to accurately operate a calculator and computer spreadsheet program. Knowledge of company procedures.
