Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these outstanding products! What You'll Do:

The General Assembly (GA) Production Shift Lead has responsibility for a large group of employees including first supervisory personnel engaged in GA production activities in a department, group of departments, shift or plant operations. Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision making and is accompanied by a high level of independent judgment. The Shift Lead will manage the GA production team in executing all production related activities inside Factory ZERO.Executes deliverables in support of the supply chain organization's business objectives. Guides of one of the key areas within the Global Supply Chain to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product and financial initiatives.

  • Manages the floor operations
  • Promotes, educates, communicates, and follows up on safety initiatives
  • Maintain safety culture through audits, observation, and incident investigation.
  • Assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS), quality control procedures, manufacturing processes, and management systems as they relate to production operations.
  • Champion of allocated BPD activities.
  • Allocate manpower as needed. Plan release for training.
  • Lead shift meetings for SPQRC.
  • Execute CIP workshops in the areas of Quality & Cost.
  • Support unit manager to resolve manpower issues in conjunction with union.
  • Manages budget and achievement of productivity improvements.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Preferred 5+ years of experience in an Automotive Assembly Plant (OEM preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to lead problem solving activities and leverage analytical abilities.
  • Leadership/Management Experience (UAW, Salaried, Skilled Trades or similar)
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP) 
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
  • Must be able to work any shift

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS) Production experience
  • Experience within General Assembly preferred
  • Experience in applying 6 pillars of quality process to meet BIQ IV
